Random Abstracts.1. It's raining, the kind of rain that comes down so heavy it sounds like the shower's running, even when you've turned if off. The kind of rain that makes you think of dams and flash floods, arks. The kind of rain that tells you to crawl back into bed, where the sheets haven't lost your body heat, to pretend that the clock is five minutes earlier than it really is.
2. There should be a statue of limitation on grief. A rule book that says it is all right to wake up crying, but only for a month.
3. Grief is a curious thing, when it happens unexpectantly. It is a Band-Aid being ripped away.
4. When you are a kid you have your own language, and unlike French or Spanish or whatever you start learning when you're young, this one you're born with, and eventually lose. Everyone under the age of seven is fluent in
Ifspeak; go hang around with someone under three feet tall and you'll see. What if a giant funnelweb spider crawed out of that hole over your head and bit you on the neck? What if the only antidote for venom was locked up in a vault over the mountain? It doesn't matter how far you go; the point is that it's a world of possibility. Kids think with their brain cracker wide open; becoming an adult, I've decided, is only a slow sewing shut.
5. She snapped shut her compact and then, on second thought, opened it and set it on the floor. It took three stomps before the mirror inside shattered. She threw out the plastic disc and all but one shard of glass. It was shaped like a tear, rounded on one end and sharp as a dagger on the other.
She slid down along the tiled wall of the bathroom until she was sitting underneath the sink. Then she dragged the make shift knife over the white canvas of her arm. As soon as she did it, she wished she could take it back. Crazy girls did this, girls who walked like zombies.
But.
She felt the sting of the skin as it split, the sweet welling rise of blood. It hurt, though not as much as everything else.
Just felt like typing all this out, for no rythme or reason! Life has been a roller coaster, I guess. (: Tomorrow is SYF, we're all wishing that Fairfield English Drama will get a Gold (with honors?) award!Go us! Ice skating after SYF, gonna be loads of fun, as usual.Love,Me.
